Faith Kitchen
Faith Kitchen is a community service that responds to Jesus' command to "Feed my sheep" (John 21:17). It operates Monday through Saturday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. There are presently 22 churches involved in the Faith Kitchen, which serve nutritious meals, free of charge, to anyone who comes to eat. 34,620 meals were served in 2011!
The Faith Kitchen provides more than food! The Faith Kitchen also helps clients network into social service agencies, jobs, housing, mental and physical healthcare, etc. The St. Clare's Community Outreach Service health van is located nearby 3 days a week, and provides treatment for minor illnesses and injuries as well as monthly blood pressure screenings. The Faith Kitchen provides our clients with a safe place for conversation and assistance with necessary paperwork (job applications, medical bills, etc.) With the support of the Morris Mission Thrift Shop, St. John's Thrift Shop, and the First Presbyterian Thrift Shop, we are able to refer clients for needed clothing. The Mental Health Association, in partnership with Trinity Lutheran Church, also sponsors Edna's Haven, a drop in center, Monday- Friday from 12:30- 4:00.
